My original degree was in biochemistry at McGill University. After graduating I was hired by the Department of Microbiology at McGill University where I quickly rose to the position of chief technician for the department. As much as I enjoyed research I was always fascinated by dentistry. I applied to the Faculty of Dentistry at McGill University and later graduated in 1988.
After receiving my dental degree I worked as a dentist for the Canadian Armed Forces for five years. This was an excellent opportunity to hone my skills and take advanced dental training. My time as an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces was great but I felt I wanted the independence and challenge of private practice. In 1993 I bought a practice in Langley, B.C. and have been there ever since.
